Tyvek vs silicone wristbands: which should you order?

Most wholesale wristband orders in Australia come down to two jobs. You either need a secure ticket that cannot be swapped between people, or a wearable brand piece people keep. Tyvek does the first job. Silicone does the second. Choosing the wrong one is the most expensive mistake we see.

What each band is actually for

Tyvek wristbands are paper-like polyethylene event bands with a tamper-evident adhesive. Once they go on, they tear if someone tries to peel them off and pass them to a friend. That is why festivals, nightclubs, school formals and multi-day venues still use them as the default access control product.

Silicone wristbands are moulded rubber bands people slide on and off. They are comfortable, waterproof and last for months. They are a promotional product, not a door ticket. If your door staff need to know who paid, do not issue silicone.

Security and reuse

Tyvek is single-use by design. The adhesive destructs on removal, so a used band cannot be resealed cleanly. Colour-code doors, days or age groups and your team can check admission at a glance.

Silicone is reusable. That is a feature for awareness campaigns, fundraisers and merch packs, and a problem for paid entry. Anyone can take a silicone band off and hand it to the next person in the queue.
